Occupational Rehabilitation is an offer for people who, following an illness or accident, are no longer able to work in their original job. The goal of Occupational Rehabilitation is reintegration into the labour market. In addition to clarifying their overall health and assisting them with personal problems, job-relevant skills are assessed and goals for successful integration into the labour market are worked out together. Affected persons are accompanied through the entire process by highly skilled professionals.
Occupational Rehabilitation involves more than just obtaining new qualifications. Health and social challenges are also addressed with holistic support and accompanying services. People emerge from the crisis stronger and well-equipped for the working world.
Our Offers are aimed at people suffering from physical, cognitive or mental disabilities and are currently unemployed or at risk of losing their job.
Illnesses or accidents can strike anyone, no one is safe from them. However, illnesses or accidents don't automatically end in retirement. You can be very successful in your job even if your health is impaired.
Occupational Rehabilitation is there for people with such a challenge to find their way back into the working world and to be accompanied on their way. In a changing corporate and working world, it marks an innovative offer of individual, economical and social value.
Occupational Rehabilitation results in:
- Vastly improved labour market reintegration opportunities for those affected.
- This, in turn, eases the burden on public budgets through lower expenses for transfer payments and increased revenue from levies and taxes.
- Occupational rehabilitation counteracts premature retirement from the workforce and skilled worker shortages.
That said, it's insufficient to only measure Occupational Rehabilitation's benefits in economic terms. Occupational Rehabilitation leads to positive changes in the lives of individual people.
Occupational Rehabilitation changes one's personal life:
- By improving self-esteem, skills, perspectives and motivation, individual resources are strengthened.
- Developing personal health literacy changes the way people deal with their own illness or impairment.
- Professional reorientation results in improved working conditions and better opportunities on the labour market.
- People benefit from higher salaries following occupational rehabilitation.
Following Occupational Rehabilitation, people are strengthened and well-prepared for the working world.
The contribution of people with health restrictions to the workforce is significant. Particularly if they are well-trained. Companies receive qualified specialists and experienced, reliable and crisis-proof employees in line with their needs.
Many companies value their cooperation with BBRZ. They receive employees whose individual skills are perfectly in line with their needs. Tailored (Re)training takes into account their needs and also allows for special job profiles. Thus, Occupational Rehabilitation counteracts skilled worker shortages.

The goal is for people to find the right job despite health restrictions and to be able to work in it permanently.
From the very beginning of your Occupational Rehabilitation journey, we make sure to pass on content in a practical manner. BBRZ specialists will support clients regarding all topics surrounding their application and starting their new job. During an Internship they are able to explore new tasks. Our experts also know exactly which requirements are currently in demand on the labour market and help with placement.
If clients already have a concrete career aspiration and personal goals in mind, we look at their starting position together with them and support them as best we can in the areas they need to achieve their personal goals. In addition, together with our customers we consider the chances of their desired job on the labour market as well as the requirements necessary for the job and compare these with their personal starting position. In addition to professional knowledge, we also look into their physical, psychological, social and financial possibilities.
Our top priority is the long-term integration of our customers into the labour market. We support our customers in developing career prospects that best match their skills, interests and health conditions. In addition, we advise them on current opportunities and challenges on the labour market. In the process, we may also advise against certain career choices.
The requirements of the labour market are subject to constant changes. Our experts prepare our clients for these current challenges.
Nowadays, in addition to Technical competencies as taught in education and training, labour markets increasingly requires skills and characteristics that are not specifically related to a specific professional activity. We call these 'personal Competencies'. They include communication skills, the Ability to work in teams and more.
All (Re)training is based on an individual plan. Our clients create their personal roadmap to their own job goal together with their Rehabilitation Coach. Some clients only need additional training for their new career, others need complete an entirely new career.
We like to call our (Re)training measures 'tailored' and 'hands-on'. This means that they are not only oriented to the customers, but also to the wishes of the companies. If a company has a specific need for specially qualified people, they can be suitably trained at BBRZ, even for special job profiles. This ensures that employment opportunities are available once Occupational Rehabilitation is complete.
Various institutions are responsible for Occupational Rehabilitation: the Labour Market Service (AMS), the pension and accident insurance institutions, the regional offices of the Social Ministry Service and the federal states. The costs are borne by the respective referring office and, depending on the case, also shared.
There are no costs for the affected people themselves. For the duration of Occupational Rehabilitation, they receive money to cover their living expenses. They are also covered by health, pension and accident insurance during the period of Occupational Rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation wiki

Ability to work
One's Ability to work describes the extent to which someone is physically, mentally and socially able to cope with their own work and thus meet the demands of work. Therefore, one's Ability to work is closely connected to the requirements of the job in question.

Allgemeine Unfallversicherungsanstalt AUVA (Austrian Federal Accident Insurance Fund)
AUVA, like AMS (Labour Market Service) and PVA (Austrian Federal Pension Fund), is one of the orgnisations that cover the costs of Occupational Rehabilitation. It can pay for Occupational Rehabilitation for people who have had an accident at work or suffer from an occupational disease.
